Our Composers
Lauren Bernofsky's music has been performed across the United States as well as in Canada, Norway, Iceland, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia. A former faculty at the Peabody Conservatory, her works have been published by Frank E. Warren Music Service, The FJH Music Company, Inc., Micropress, Dorn Publications, and Boosey & Hawkes. Ms. Bernofsky has been widely sought for commissions including engagements to write for the Harford Ballet, Del Mar Trio, Sinfonia Calcania of Boston, and Brian Diehl of the Flordia West Coast Symphony.
Alexandra Gardner, composer
The instrumental and electroacoustic music of composer and sound artist Alexandra Gardner combines explorations into the rich details of acoustic sound. Gardner's compositions have been featured at the Aspen Music Festival, Akiyoshidae International Art Village, Centro de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, Centro Cultural Conde Duque, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Joyce SOHO, Dance Place, Metronóm, the Florida and Santa Fe Electronic Music Festivals, and The Kennedy Center. Her music has been commissioned by organizations including the SOLI Chamber Ensemble, CrossSound Music Festival, Deborah Riley Dance Projects, the Open Meadows Foundation and the Smithsonian Institution.
Composer Pamela Helton's works have been heard at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, St. Martins-in-the-Fields, London, St. Peters Church in NYC and in Washington, DC at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and Library of Congress. Ms. Helton holds the Holstblaser Prize for her composition "Concerto for Nine Instruments" and a commission from the Skokie Valley Youth Symphony. Ms. Helton has been awarded composition fellowships to the Banff Centre for the Arts, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Bowdoin Music Festival.
David Kidwell is an active composer whose works have been performed at Porter House, Amherst, MA, Holyoke (MA) Community College and Flashpoint, Washington, DC. He has previously been commissioned by the Litchfield County Children's Chorus (CT), Fairborn St. Luke United Methodist Church (OH), Bowling Green Baptist Church (VA), the Alamanda Women's Chorus (CT), the Eagle Pipe Band (VA), and the Holyoke Civic Symphony. Kidwell's music has been published by Micropress, Lorenz, and MMB Music.
